French journalist and writer born to Algerian parents, Louisa Yousfi writes on behalf of what she calls "the barbarians": foreign-born boys and girls destined to remain aliens in the suburbs of the Western countries where they were born. According to the author, their "barbarism" is an asset to be claimed and defended. Her first book Rester barbare, published in Italy by Derive Approdi (2023), is a journey into radical otherness, a punch in the stomach of Western narratives and its integration policies.
