Exhibition
Chaosmos
Francesca Torzo
January 24 – March 29 2020
Chaosmos, a solo exhibition by Francesca Torzo, is the first in a series of exhibitions devoted to some of the most innovative and experimental artists, architects, and designers on the contemporary Italian and international scene. The title, Chaosmos, is taken from Finnegans Wake by James Joyce to represent a form of chaos that does not oppose but rather that interposes itself on the cosmos. Francesca Torzo adopts this concept in her works in a continuous dialogue between opposites – in which the dichotomy between inside and out is always key – in a constant search for balance. These dualities are made manifest in the exhibition in the two tents she has designed in order to create a dialogue with the spaces of Triennale and with volumes, perspective views, and lighting conditions – both natural and artificial – that vary according to the time of day. Chaosmos is in the form of an open space, and yet one that is also intimate and cosy, to be freely experienced and enjoyed. A metaphor for Francesca Torzo’s ideas and approach to design.
