Duetto in ascolto

Camilla Monga
April 17 2019, 8.00pm
Duration: 30'
The young Italian choreographer Camilla Monga collaborates with the composer Zeno Baldi in a duet that employs attentive listening to explore processes of choreographic and musical accumulation. Every visual and aural stimulus becomes a recognisable sign to be turned into pure sound. The dancer and the musician become interpreters of a single score to execute a duet that evokes shapes and images: they work with visual, logical and emotional associations to create a sequence of events, combine threads and embody dynamic shapes that entrap space and time. Body and sound produce a polyphony of images which are also mirrored and distorted by reflective panels: the result is an hypnotic game which invites the spectator to consider different points of view.
Camilla Monga is an Italian choreographer. After her studies at Accademia di Brera and Civica Paolo Grassi in Milan, she graduates from PARTS Academy in Brussels, where she develops her choreographic research with Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Bojana Cvejić and Alain Franco. Since 2012 she has collaborated with the musician LSKA, working on audiovisual performances. Her projects have been presented both in Italy and abroad: Uovo Performing Arts Festival, Milan; Biennale for young artists, Thessaloniki; Plesni Centar, Zagreb; Julidans, Amsterdam; PARTS, Brussels; CND, Paris; Venice Biennale; Cango, Florence; B.motion, Bassano del Grappa. In 2016 she was invited by Virgilio Sieni to represent PARTS at the Venice Biennale with “13 objects”, a tribute to the historical avantgardes.
Zeno Baldi is an Italian composer, graduated from KunstUniversität Graz and Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. He composes for acoustic instruments and for various types of electronic instruments. He is performer and sound designer in multimedia contexts.
