One hundred years after the birth of Luciano Berio, we dedicate a listening session in Voce Triennale to Visage, one of the works by the Italian composer who was one of the leading figures of the European avant-garde in the 20th century.
"When I was composing Visage, I was attracted, as always, by research that would allow me to broaden the possibilities of convergence between musical and acoustic processes and to find musical equivalents of linguistic articulations. In this sense, the experience of electronic music is fundamental, because it provides the composer with the concrete possibility of musically assimilating a vast area of sound phenomena that cannot be traced back to pre-established musical codes. Visage is essentially a radio program: almost a soundtrack for a drama that was never written. Its destination, therefore, is not only the concert hall but any place or medium that allows the reproduction of recorded sounds."
