Show
Limbo
Running time: 75’. After the show on February 15, on stage, there will be a meeting with the artist Victor de Oliveira, who will present his work and his artistic research
His grandfathers are white and European, his grandmothers Mozambican and Indian. His great-grandparents were Portuguese Jews, Mozambican Makondes, Indians from Goa and Chinese from Canton. Victor de Oliveira – actor, author and director who, over the years, has performed on some of Europe's major stages – is proud of his family tree, but it hasn’t always been all that simple. Through an introspective work, the artist, for the first time in Italy, questions the origins and history of his family, composing a mosaic of personal memories, historical facts, colonialism, slavery and current events. An autofiction in which Victor de Oliveira addresses his own suspended and intermediate condition, in a limbo of lost or forgotten stories and people.
Victor de Oliveira is an actor and director born in Mozambique in 1971. He began his theater career in Lisbon, later attending the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris. After graduating, he worked in Portugal, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and England, but mostly in France. Parallel to his work as an actor and director, he is developing a training program for young actors, especially in the field of African dramaturgy. He teaches at the Institut d'études théâtrales of the Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle and at ERACM (École régionale d'acteurs de Cannes et Marseille).
