Unexpected Matches Pardonne-moi, Olivier!
July 12 2023, 9.00pm
Running time: 50'
A project by director Alina Marazzi, a series of appointments to investigate the relationship between filmic image and music through the involvement of musicians and DJs invited to soundtrack rare and little-known films and materials from archives and film libraries.
The third event is a journey by cut-up artist Økapi into the musical imagery of Olivier Messiaen, a 20th-century French composer who pushed classical composition through the territories of experimentation. The live show consists of three movements (human love, divine love, love of nature) in a visual and sonic crescendo. Each compositional cell of the concert is dedicated to a bird species, in the same catalographic spirit as Messiaen. Images and sounds contaminate, dialogue, merge live, in a hymn to nature.
Økapi, born Filippo E. Paolini, is a French-Italian electronic composer, well-known collagist and cut-up artist, and exponent of plunderphony. An reckless traverser of codes and genres, he has numerous solo records, participations and ensembles to his credit.
Simone Memè is visual artist, video editor, motion graphics designer. He creates interactive and visual installation projects for museums, exhibitions, individuals and musical ensembles.
For the project Økapi has involved the Aldo Kapi Orchestra, his alter-ego already present in the album "Love him" (2009), a phantom orchestra that gathers his endless collection of samples.
