The film tells the story of Vincenzo Motta, known as Enzo, a man originally from Catania who grew up in Genoa and was sentenced to a total of 27 years in prison at various points in his life. These experiences shaped him into a tough and irascible character, yet with a sensitive heart. The film blurs the traditional lines between narrative cinema and documentary, employing a creative editing style that weaves together documentary moments, interviews, letters, and a wealth of archival video material—both professional and amateur—about Genoa, its port, and its 20th-century history.
The screening is part of the program Stories in history, which accompanies the exhibition Il Nostro Tempo, CinéFondationCartier.
