The Progettare Futuri Possibili competition is a two-year course created with the aim of reviving a new design culture in the contemporary world, experimenting with innovative wood construction solutions and providing a platform for visibility for young talents. During the public ceremony, a jury of excellence will announce the three most deserving projects from among those that participated in the competition.
A project conceived by Franco Albini Foundation and Franco Albini Academy and promoted and developed with Rubner Haus in collaboration with Studio Albini Associati, School of Design of Politecnico di Milano and School of Urban Architecture and Construction Engineering of Politecnico di Milano.
Under the patronage of ADI, Ordine degli Architetti di Sassari, Salone del Mobile Milano and with the support of Triennale Milano, the course opens with the launch of a competition to design a lightweight, innovative, sustainable, recyclable, strong-designed wooden structure that enhances the constructive performance of wood, and at the same time transformable, versatile, modular.
This will then be followed by a week-long workshop at Casa Albini in Sardinia where the three competition winners will be led to explore a new approach to design through interdisciplinary techniques and the Albini method, which will lead them to break down individual projects into parts, search for the essence of each and recompose them into a single collective project born in co-creation.
The last stage of the project is for next year when a prototype of the wooden structure born in co-creation will be made by Rubner Haus and brought on display during 2024 Design Week, and then find its permanent location at Casa Albini.
