Talk Through Images on Inequalities and Solidarity
June 11 2025, 6.30pm
Free admission upon registration
A talk exploring the different aspects of global inequalities, guided by the photographs of Johnny Miller, selected from the Unequal Scenes exhibition. These inequalities take many forms: territorial, climatic, and social. They are different faces of the same sad coin, one that represents a growing division between the ultra-rich and the extremely poor—a gap that continues to widen. In the middle, we find a world that is more interconnected than ever, yet still struggling to find balance. This increasing interconnection only makes global crises spark local ones, making the division even harder to bridge. Perhaps it's time to change our perspective—just as Johnny Miller’s photos suggest—and rethink the size of this problem. In doing so, we may begin to see that the answer lies in local, solidarity-based networks, and in the everyday work of organizations that are committed to not leaving anyone behind. While we wait for broader, structural solutions, this path of solidarity and local action is one worth following.
Speakers Vittorio Cogliati Dezza, coordinator of the National Forum on Inequality and Diversity Denis Curti, founder of STILL Photography, curator of the Unequal Scenes exhibition Matteo Ripamonti, director of Fondazione IBVA Moderator Marco Castelnuovo, Director of Corriere della Sera, Milan Edition
