As part of Planeta Ukrain we present an evening of Ukrainian literature by actress Lidia Liberman. The program will feature readings by 19th- and 21st-century authors, including Taras Ševčenko, Lina Kostenko, Eugenia Kuznetsova, Oleksij Čerepanov, Lyubov Orekhova, Serhij Vyšnevskyj, Glib Babič, and Emma Kunevyč. Guest of the evening is Eugenia Kuznetsova, author of the book Ask Miyechka, and translators Giovanna Brogi and Lorenzo Pompeo. An opportunity to delve into the history of a people through culture and poetry.
Eugenia Kuznetsova is a contemporary Ukrainian writer and translator. Her first novel Ask Miyechka—a story of four generations of women observed over the course of one summer—was selected for BBC News Ukraine as Book of the Year in 2021.
Giovanna Brogi teaches Slavistics at the University of Milan. Her research ranges from medieval literature of the Eastern Slavs to the historiography of the Renaissance and Baroque in Slavic areas. For nearly two decades he has been working on Ukrainian history, culture and literature. He has translated Taras Ševčenko, Serhij Žadan and other Ukrainian authors.
Lorenzo Pompeo is an Italian literary translator and writer, PhD in Slavistics at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and a specialist in Slavic languages.
