Pieri Luigi Nervi The Art of Construction

An event to present Pier Luigi Nervi: The Art of Construction, the new monograph by Gabriele Neri, published by Hoepli (2024) and dedicated to one of the greatest engineers and architects of the 20th century. Nervi was the creator of masterpieces such as the Florence Municipal Stadium, the Palazzetto dello Sport in Rome, the Palazzo del Lavoro in Turin, the Vatican’s Audience Hall, and the structural design of the Pirelli Tower in Milan. For the first time, this book traces his entire career, exploring his construction innovations, site management, structural challenges, as well as his relationships with the cultural, political, and social context of his time, and his remarkable international success. Special emphasis is given to reinterpreting Nervi's work in the present day and to the highly relevant issue of preserving his architectural masterpieces. The author will engage in a discussion with Nina Bassoli, Mario Botta, architect, and Manuel Orazi, architecture and city historian.
