Talk
Palestinian Sound Archive
January 24 2024, 7.00pm
Majazz Project—founded by Mo'min Swaitat, an actor trained at the Freedom Theatre in Jenin and a musician—is a record label and digital sound archive and research project of traditional music that aims to make Palestinian musical heritage known worldwide. The goal is to connect Palestinian bands from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s with a new audience and make their music available through streaming platforms both in original form and reinterpreted and remixed by contemporary DJs, artists and musicians.
The meeting will include a talk and a listening session.
Moderates the talk: Layla Hassan, activist and independent curator.
