Belgian drummer Lander Gyselinck accompanies Nafaq, the dance duo featuring Egyptian dancers Amina Abouelghar and Hanin Tarek. Together they present an improvised adaptation of the dance piece Extending Further, a groundbreaking and fascinating performance that combines different styles of hip-hop and contemporary dance, including choreography and improvisation. Immersed in an almost magical darkness, Nafaq envelops and merges with the space, intertwining in a precise and surprising reflection. Steeped in live sound that vibrates in the performers’ intimate embrace, Extending Further is a burst of creative energy that explores intimacy and distance in the space of human relationships through the contrast between the moving bodies of the dancers and the audience.
Nafaq is a dance collective that consists of Amina Abouelghar who currently resides in Brussels and Hanin Tarek, a dancer and choreographer based in Cairo. The duo has shown their work in festivals such as Festival de Marseille, Indiscipline festival by Wiels, and D-CAF. The duo have studied and graduated from the Cairo Contemporary Dance Center and have been collaborating with several artists and choreographers since 2019.
