IRENE
Running time 40’
How does the body react to the loss of a loved one? IRENE deals with this complex aspect by translating it into a choreographic language made of ritual gestures, in an ultimate attempt to relate with what is invisible, with what is no longer present. In this performance by Alessandro Marzotto Levy, young choreographer winner of DNAppunti Coreografici 2022, dance becomes the medium through which to explore time, memories that come back to shock us, and to rebuild the meaning of a past that will never return.
Alessandro Marzotto Levy is a dancer, choreographer, curator, and teacher, whose training and career have involved several European countries. He trained at the Rambert School in London and at IT Dansa in Spain. In Groningen, he began his choreographic research with the production house Random Collision and worked as a dancer for choreographers such as Jasmine Ellis and Leo Lerus. In 2011, he founded the dance company Impermanence Dance Theatre and began teaching contemporary dance and choreographic composition in Italy, Germany, and England. In 2021, Alessandro returned to live in Italy to continue his dedication to choreographic research and teaching.
