Free admission upon registration
Hyperlocal Club returns with the second event of its fifth edition, in dialogue with the Magazine series of the same name presented within the Cities exhibition, part of the 24th International Exhibition of Triennale Milano. The event hosts a gathering of kitipo, the car-mounted sound systems symbolic of Dominican culture, together with Comunidad: the largest Dominican community in Europe, in La Spezia's Umberto I neighborhood. The evening opens with a conversation moderated by New York journalist Jennifer Motaval, with Blaze Drumz, a producer from La Spezia, and LA CANASTA, a musicologist and kitipo builder from Philadelphia. In the garden, El Lindon, La Cariñosa, La Fresa, La John Wish and La RJ – five kitipo with their owners, drivers and musicologos – bring to life a sonic challenge to the rhythm of dembow, accompanied by a DJ set by Blaze Drumz.
Program 7:30 pm - Talk with Blaze Drumz and La Canasta HD, Jennifer Motaval 9 pm - Kitipo Battle with El Lindon, La Cariñosa, La Fresa, La John Wish, La RJ, and DJ set by Blaze Drumz
