Homage to Sylvano Bussotti

July 4 – 6, 2025
Free admission from 10.30 am to 6 pm
We pay tribute to an artist who was able to challenge the artistic and social conventions of his time: Sylvano Bussotti. Openly homosexual, his research shaped works that still offer a lucid and timely reflection on the relationship between art and eros. Within Voce Triennale, a special installation dedicated to Lorenzaccio, a danced romantic melodrama inspired by Alfred de Musset's play of the same name, written and composed by Bussotti for the 35th International Festival of Contemporary Music of the Venice Biennale (Teatro La Fenice, Sept. 7-8, 1972), comes to life. A 12-minute symphonic excerpt conducted, a few years after the premiere, by maestro Giovanni Sinopoli will be broadcast in the exhibition space. In the lobby leading to the space, several pages of the autograph score – enhanced by original drawings by Bussotti himself – and large-format prints with details of the stage sketches will also be on display.
