Inspired by the common expression “to eat with the eyes,” Eat me began as a reflection on the representation of female bodies in the visual arts and on the consumption of images. The choreographic score traverses an archive of everyday gestures and abstract postures, memories from the subject of the reclining female portrait. In a progressive emancipation from the floor, the two dancers invite us to explore the dynamics and politics of the gaze, in the relationship between spectator and performer. With Eat me, Giorgia Lolli won DNAppunti Coreografici 2023 together with Sophie Claire Annen and Sebastian Kurtén.
Giorgia Lolli (1996) is a dancer and author from Reggio Emilia, currently studying for an MA in Choreography at the Theater Academy Helsinki.
