Fuga is a performance based on running, which becomes a metaphor for a paradoxical existential condition: that of those who move while remaining stationary, fleeing from themselves and their contingencies, in search of an ever elusive wellbeing. A training session on a treadmill is an opportunity to let the imagination go, on the notes of sounds derived from baroque music and the world of entertainment: a liberating escape, capable of rewriting the very meaning of playing sports. With this work, the Palermo/Petrosino artistic duo continue their research on the nature of the performative act starting from the everyday, creating a minimal choreography of the tangible gesture, poised between reality and fiction.
Gaetano Palermo and Michele Petrosino are a Bologna-based artistic duo working in the visual and performing arts. Their research explores the ontology of movement from stasis to its negation. Their work has been presented at festivals and museum institutions including the Venice Biennale, MAMbo in Bologna, Gender Bender Festival, and Romaeuropa Festival. Since 2023 the duo has been supported by the national dance production body KLm - Kinkaleri, The Supplices, mk.
