Frankenstein (A Love Story)

Motus
November 22 – 26, 2023
Running time 80'
We need monstrosity, we need to touch it and keep it close. With this inspiration, Motus takes on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, an extraordinary creation by a nineteen-year-old writer that throws open the political power of the imagination and the ability – of writing and of theater – to create alternate worlds. This new, “monstrous” work by the company founded by Daniela Nicolò and Enrico Casagrande weaves together various episodes in an assemblage that revives the inanimate, broken down and put back together on stage. In a tumultuous nature, radical solitudes intermingle to restrain the horror and anxiety and look into the eyes of the non-human.
Motus was founded in Rimini in 1991 by Daniela Nicolò and Enrico Casagrande. Since then, it has produced powerful performances that foretell and express the contradictions of our time. The company has received numerous honors, including three Ubu Awards and important special prizes. The two free-thinking directors have traveled the world with their shows, appearing in Under the Radar (New York), TransAmériques and PuSh Festival (Canada), Santiago a Mil (Chile), Fiba Festival (Buenos Aires), Adelaide Festival and Midsumma Festival (Australia), Taipei Arts Festival (Taiwan), Hong Kong International Black Box Festival, MITsp (Brazil) and throughout Europe.
