Forest Tales
June 3 – 12, 2022
An exhibition presented by the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) curated by Studio Swine
A collection of furniture designed during the pandemic and made from three beautiful and sustainable hardwoods from the American forests. The notion of shifting perspectives is integral to both form and content of the installation. Forest Tales is not only a showcase of creativity, but an argument against waste in design, a plea for a more thoughtful choice of materials, and a challenge to the status quo. The exhibition showcases work from contemporary designers, both well-established and emerging, including Thomas Heatherwick, Maria Bruun and Mac Collins, in an installation which encourages visitors to explore these sustainable materials and reflect on the relationship between the forests and the products which surround us in our everyday lives. Four solid wood tables by the winners of the A seat at a table competition initiated by AHEC and RIVA 1920 will also be on show, with a view to giving a platform to showcase their ideas to emerging talents of the Italian design scene.
