Sports and music in the age of performance ESport revolution: from real to virtual

The spread of eSports, electronic sports, video game competitions at a professional level, has completely changed the concept of sports performance, as well as that of talent, reaching out to engage wider and more transversal audiences. In parallel, initiatives that see competitive gaming embrace the world of music are multiplying, going on to redefine the very concept of "entertainment." In addition to the issue of investment, which in recent years many artists have made within the virtual world, the advent of streaming, and in particular of a platform such as Twitch, has helped revolutionize music and eSports, solidifying their bond. For singers and record labels, streaming represents a new way to be able to communicate effectively with younger generations who no longer enjoy only traditional channels. The second appointment of the series of talks curated by Carlo Pastore and Frank Piantanida analyzes the relationships and differences between real performances and virtual performances, characterized by new approaches and unprecedented do-it-yourself dynamics.
