On the occasion of the 23rd Triennale International Exhibition Unknown Unknowns. An Introduction to Mysteries (July 15 – December 11, 2022) Fondazione Milano presents Ostinato, a performance by the internationally renowned Belgian choreographer Elie Tass and produced by the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi with sixteen young dancers. A collective mosaic – composed of gestures, actions and movements – in which real and unreal collide in the construction of an elusive landscape, of an absolute non-truth. The artists' bodies question our possibilities of perception and experience, generating a space at once authentic and inauthentic, known and unknown.
Elie Tass (1981) pursues a physical exploration that has led him from sport to dance, from ballet to break dance. After studying physical education at the University of Ghent, he trained at the Contemporary Dance Conservatory in Antwerp. In 2005, he met the famous choreographer and director Alain Platel, founder of the company Les ballets C de la B, an encounter that started an association that still exists today. In 2012 he also began collaborating with choreographer and dancer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Tass has worked all over Europe and collaborated with countless leading artists of the contemporary scene. Among his latest works, in 2018 he presented the performance Figure Studies at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. In 2019 at the Fondazione Prada he staged Entrata di emergenza with student dancers from the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi (Milan). He then worked in Seoul with South Korean choreographer Hyo-Seung Ye on the creation of the performance Opium.
