Workshop
Dramaturgy and video on stage
March 20 2024, 10.00am
SOLD OUT
Running time 4 hours
How does the intensive use of video on stage influence dramaturgy? What are the scenic potentials of a video camera, a screen, or a smartphone? What is the role of audiovisual dramaturgy and how does it connect to the various elements of the staging process? These are the fundamental questions of the workshop conducted by Pau Palacios from the acclaimed Spanish company Agrupación Señor Serrano: a practical exercise, accessible by each participant just by using their smartphone. Through this activity, the company will present its methodology regarding the use of video on stage. The session will conclude with a thorough reflection on the creative process of Agrupación Señor Serrano.
Founded by Àlex Serrano in Barcelona in 2006, Agrupación Señor Serrano creates original productions based on stories drawn from contemporary times. The company employs many innovative and vintage tools to push the boundaries of its theatre. Grounded in creative collaborations, Señor Serrano's productions blend performance, text, live video, audio, and scale models to stage narratives about disparate aspects of today's human experience. The company's productions primarily tour internationally. Currently, the core of Agrupación Señor Serrano consists of Àlex Serrano, Pau Palacios, and Barbara Bloin. In addition to them, for each production, the company relies on the essential collaboration of an interdisciplinary and variable creative team. On August 3, 2015, Agrupación Señor Serrano was awarded the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale.
