Goumour Almoctar, aka Bombino, is an international desert blues star. Originally from Niger, one day he picked up a guitar forgotten by relatives and slowly, as he practiced, he discovered his greatest passion. Bombino's sounds recall those of the Tinariwen, neighboring desert players, but his electrifying melodies, which encapsulate the spirit of resistance and rebellion, exude an irresistible groove. It is a dense and magmatic version of the blues, to which is added the peculiarity of breaking free from the classic metric based on the “call and response” between lead singer and (usually female) chorus, replacing the latter with melodic digressions of the guitar.
