BEAT

Igor x Moreno
June 18 2021, 7.30pm
Running time 50’
Igor x Moreno’s latest work is a piece that pulsates with energy and transports the audience to a dancefloor like no other. BEAT is a mesmerising solo danced by the superlative Margherita Elliot to DJ Martha’s electronic music. A reflection on what it might mean to be part of a generation that was brought up with a sense of endless possibilities, the choreography is a chain of reinventions that playfully, yet powerfully, express our need and ability to perform multiple identities. Elliot’s relentless movement, unpredictable and utterly transfixing, guides the audience to follow her through many different transformations.
Igor x Moreno is a contemporary dance company based both in Sardinia and in London, directed by Igor Urzelai (1983, San Sebastian, Spain) and Moreno Solinas (1987, Sardinia, Italy). Since forming in 2012, the company’s works have been met with public and critical acclaim and have toured extensively across the globe. They have been nominated for awards such as the Total Theatre Award for Dance and the National Dance Awards, as well as being promoted in numerous international dance platforms including the British Council Showcase, Aerowaves, British Dance Edition and National Italian Dance platform.
