Cathedral – Tenir le Temps – Touch Base

Ballet Junior de Genève
February 8 – 9, 2025
Running time: 60'
Founded in 1980, Ballet Junior de Genève is made up of more than thirty highly talented young dancers from across the world. The work of the two artistic directors, Patrice Delay and Sean Wood, focuses on creating new works as well as reviving the existing repertoire through collaboration with the most interesting choreographers on the contemporary scene. A triptych of works consisting of Cathedral, choreographed by Marcos Morau and accompanied by the spiritual music of Arvo Pärt, Tenir le temps, one of the most danced pieces by Rachid Ouramdane with a score by composer Jean-Baptiste Julien, and Touch Base, with choreography and music choices by Imre and Marne Van Opstal, is being presented for FOG. A journey that will transport us into a universe of passion and beauty shaped by the inventive language of movement.
Created in 1980, Ballet Junior de Genève is a veritable springboard between training and a professional career. One of its distinctive features is that it allows young dancers to work with some of the most renowned choreographers of the past two decades. The work carried out by the two artistic directors, Patrice Delay and Sean Wood, ranges from “restaging” existing works to creating new works, real commissions for the BJG. Thanks to this innovative approach, the company has a vast repertoire that includes works by the most acclaimed choreographers of the latest generation, from Lucinda Childs, Olivier Dubois, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui to Sasha Waltz and Alessandro Sciarroni, among others.
