Are we not drawn onward to new erA

Ontroerend Goed
May 11 – 12, 2021
Running time 70’ Italian Premiere
An award-winning theatrical masterpiece, merging visual art, theatre, poetry and politics, Are we not drawn onward to new erA is the new work of the Belgian performance group Ontroerend Goed, hailed by critics as one of the most stimulating theatre makers of the past decade. The myth of progress versus the threat of the end of the world; like its title, the work is a palindrome: it reads the same backwards as forwards. Whether our collective actions move us towards destruction or salvation, are they irreversible or can we undo them? This intelligent, charming and emotionally impactful work – in Italian premiere – is a metaphor of the threat we are posing to ourselves and our world.
Ontroerend Goed (roughly translated as “Feel Estate”) is a Belgian theatre-performance-group which produces self-devised work that invites their audiences to participate as well as observe. They first emerged on the international scene in 2007. With every new piece of work, Ontroerend Goed provides an intense experience constructed in reality. The company has won numerous awards across Europe and has captured the attention of critics all over the world. Ontroerend Goed functions as a collective guided by the artistic director Alexander Devriendt; its members are: Charlotte De Bruyne, Charlotte Nyota Bischop, Aurélie Lannoy, Karolien De Bleser, Angelo Tijssens, David Bauwens, Wim Smet, Babette Poncelet and Karen Van Ginderachter.
