Frans Dijkmeijer: The Silent Pioneer

April 20 – 26, 2026
Free entry
As part of Milan Design Week, an exhibition dedicated to Frans Dijkmeijer (1936–2011) celebrates and explores the work of the Dutch weaver and textile designer. His archive, recently donated by the family to Kvadrat, a leading Danish textile company, offers a new opportunity to further examine his practice. At Cuore, the installation retraces Dijkmeijer’s insights, research, and compositional languages through thematic chapters, exploring his methods, obsessions, approaches, and values. The exhibition path also includes three contemporary art interventions commissioned from three artists—Renick Bell, Valentina Furian, and Francesco Tosini—who, through electronic music compositions, computer graphics, digital animations, installations, and video art, explore some of the artist’s creative attitudes: from botany to repetition and rhythm, from patterns to surfaces. The exhibition concludes with a video interview with colour master Giulio Ridolfo and Stine Find Osther, Vice President of Design at Kvadrat, offering a reflection on the contemporary relevance and design legacy of Frans Dijkmeijer.
