Concert
Voices From The Lake
March 20 2026, 9.00pm
As part of Equinozio, at Voce, our space dedicated to music and sound, we host the Italian duo Voices From The Lake (Donato Dozzy & Neel). Born from a friendship and a singular musical vision, Voices From The Lake first emerged as a one-off live performance in the Japanese Alps, later distilled into their self-titled 2012 album, now considered a touchstone in ambient techno. The duo have performed worldwide, released a handful of EPs, worked on installations and founded record labels, continuously refining their unique identity. They now return with their second album II (two) on their own Spazio Disponibile, marking a new chapter in one of electronic music’s most revered projects. The record reflects their recent trajectory—moving between energetic live sets and seated listening concerts, while staying rooted in the meditative pulse of ambient techno—and for this occasion brings this evolving sonic language to Voce.
Donato Dozzy and Neel started their collaboration into a project now known as Voices from the Lake. They are two Italian DJs, producers and long-time friends, nonconformists of ambient & leftfield techno, both masters of their craft before joining forces. Creating vivid, multi-layered soundscapes built on slowly unfolding rhythms and textures has become a defining trait of the duo, leading them to produce some of the most entrancing ambient techno in the scene. Their self-titled debut album was a clear example of the pair's incredible ear for sound design. A collection of spiritually charged techno, shaped by subtle pulses and fluid, elliptical patterns rather than rigid beats. Their second album was more left-field, even more irreverent toward techno tropes. Live at MAXXI is a recording of a live performance from the Museum of Modern Contemporary Art in Rome, retaining the hypnotic ambience of the previous releases, this time withdrawing from an emphasis on beats.
