On the occasion of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, following the series of animals presented for the 24th International Exhibition Inequalities, a monumental sculpture by Jacopo Allegrucci returns to the entrance of the Triennale. The new work depicts a papier-mâché polar bear and renews an urgent reflection on the fragility of our ecological reality. Like other endangered species previously created and exhibited by the artist, the animal embodies a condition of vulnerability, embracing defeat in a playful and ironic way; instead of getting up after a fall, the bear treats itself to an ice cream. Inspired by processes of material deterioration, Allegrucci’s works stand as powerful symbols of the environmental and social fractures that threaten the planet’s fragile balance.
