Antonello Salis, Gavino Murgia, Paolo Angeli, Hamid Drake, “Giornale di Bordo”
Total freedom, echo of ancestral and futuristic sounds, fragments of distant stories, talismans of arcane lands, Sardinian bronzes or sculptures of contemporary art. Giornale di Bordo continues its journey among the people of the “star dancers” and their music between avant-garde jazz and multi-ethnic colors.
Giornale di Bordo brings together four strong musical personalities far from any cliché: the Sardinian Antonello Salis at the piano and the accordion, Gavino Murgia on sax and Paolo Angeli with his guitar “prepared”, plus the African-American drummer Hamid Drake. Eclectic musicians, with important careers behind them, who have chosen to live in more places, listen to more stories, hear more voices.
The idea was born in Sardinia in the form of a special project on the occasion of a well-deserved career award dedicated to Antonello Salis, but with the addition of drummer Hamid Drake it opens a new perspective, giving shape to a quartet without a real “leader”, which unfolds its sound patterns with joyful skill, color and creative strength.
