After its debut in Triennale, the walking sticks & canes exhibition, curated by Keiji Takeuchi, embarked on a journey that took it first to Tokyo and then to Venice, Los Angeles. The walking stick, which began as a simple tool for support, has evolved its meaning over time from a functional object to a symbol laden with stories and personality. While often associated with old age, the cane is also a sign of elegance, a style statement, and a companion that tells the story of the wearer's life. The book Walking Sticks, published by Lars Müller Publishers and edited by Keiji Takeuchi and Marco Sammicheli, collects eighteen examples, created by international designers, documenting the impact of this object in different cultural and social spheres. A visual and cultural journey that goes beyond the object itself, exploring the value of an accessory that, however everyday, possesses an extraordinary capacity for storytelling.
