As part of Equinozio, we host a talk at Voce with Sarah Shin, writer and curator whose practice engages transformation, myth, and poetic imagination. The equinox, a moment of balance between light and darkness, invites a connection between the conscious and the unconscious mind. Interweaving the astral and the personal, Shaman’s Mirror explores the relationship between the psychic and the cosmic. This reading—at once poetry, memory, and cosmic score—emerges from an encounter with a Wixarika nierika painting, a point of contact between past and present, and a gift of vision. Moving through dreams, ancestral memory, and the crossings of time, the text reflects on which images and forms might accompany and catalyse shifts in consciousness. Like mirrors reflecting one another endlessly, can we allow the gift of seeing the invisible to guide us toward a collective rebirth?
Sarah Shin works with transformation, dreams, myth, and poetic cosmologies. Through writing, research, publishing, curation, and narrative design, she engages expansive and interdisciplinary ways of knowing. A serial collaborator, her recent projects include The Word for World: The Maps of Ursula K Le Guin, an exhibition and publication co-edited with So Mayer and presented at the Architectural Association; Bodies of Sound, a book and curatorial series with Irene Revell; Mirror, a polymorphous narrative moving between ritual performance and digital worlds, created with Sammy Lee; and Concrete Poetry, an architecture and narrative design practice developed with Mark Lowe. She is a co-founder of Silver Press, the feminist publisher; Spiral House, a new imprint dedicated to art, poetry, and forms of knowledge; and Standard Deviation, a multidisciplinary collective exploring the coincidence of psychic, geometric, and inhabited spaces.
