Nũhũ Yãg Mũ Yõg Hãm: Essa Terra É Nossa! is a film that challenges traditional conceptions of cartography and representation of territory, proposing an alternative system of audiovisual mapping. Through an innovative visual and sound language, the film gives shape, as much physical as mythical, to the territory of the Maxakali, an indigenous people now confined to three portions of land in northeast Minas Gerais, bordering the state of Bahia. Mixing mourning practices, rituals, chants, interviews and direct observations, the film not only recounts a geography, but restores a sense of belonging and struggle, bringing to light the strength of the Maxakali community in defending their land and culture.
