A designer of clothes and accessories, as well as a designer of fittings and interiors for Bianca and Blu, Monica Bolzoni represents a unicum in the recent history of European fashion. Her design approach, relationship between materials and forms, and ability to metabolize contemporary culture by translating it into clothes belong to the tradition of basic design. The connection between body and clothes resonates in the relationship Bolzoni has determined by designing accessories and costumes for art and theater. Her poetics and compositional practice extend from garments to packaging, integrating the use of media such as video and photography.
The catalogue (Electa, 2024), published on the occasion of the exhibition curated by Marco Sammicheli and Anna Di Cesare, documents more than 30 years of activity through essays, interviews, photographs, drawings and unpublished materials. The book includes contributions by Stefano Boeri, Monica Bolzoni, Anna Di Cesare, Paolo Giacomazzi, Giulia Guzzini, Anastasia Kucherova, Jonathan Pierini, Marco Sammicheli, and Luca Stoppini.
