Tickets on sale from 17 April. Available on preview for members from 15 April
A series of acoustic and electro-acoustic concerts curated by Nicola Ratti and conceived for the morning hours—when natural light is at its brightest—Matinée invites attentive, intimate listening. Each event offers sound experiences that differ in language and references, yet are united by a central element: the quality of listening. A mode of listening that interacts with space, time, and light, becoming a moment of suspension and perceptual openness.
In this edition, live performances by Nicolas Remondino and nobile, both released on the Florence-based label OOH-sounds. Suspended between minimalist stasis and sacred repetition, percussionist Nicolas Remondino explores the drum as an autonomous resonant material, where timbre, surface, and gesture intertwine. Hìeratico is the latest chapter, in which voice and drum coexist within a poetics of synthesis, between an earthly dimension and a tension toward the sacred. Following this, nobile presents Fantastico Interiore, a new series of recordings moving between electronic and experimental music, through ephemeral soundscapes, organic pulsations, and fragmented rhythmic textures, shaping a more instinctive and playful dimension of his research.
Nicolas Remondino, Italian percussionist and sound artist, has performed in projects by Massimo Silverio, Any Other, Vieri Cervelli Montel, Byenow, Physalia, and LAMIEE, and has collaborated with producers such as Iosonouncane, Manuel Volpe, and Marco Giudici; with sound artists including Vittorio Guindani, Andrea Borghi, and Francesco Toninelli; and with improvisers such as Michel Doneda, Michele Anelli (in the duo Oort), Cosimo Fiaschi, and Natalia Rogantini (in the duo Orassion). He is also involved in the extended projects of the Dròlo Ensemble (which he founded), the Tabula Rasa Ensemble—directed by Stefano Battaglia and supported by the Accademia Chigiana and Siena Jazz University, where he studied for several years—and the Silentium Ensemble (with Theo Bleckmann and Walter Prati). He currently hosts Lunario Corale on Radio Raheem and co-curates, together with Natalia Rogantini, the artistic direction of the Ala Bianca Festival, a new music series in Valchiavenna.
Matteo Nobile a.k.a. nobile (born 1983, lives and works in Milan) is a musician and sound artist whose research investigates the emotional sphere of sound—and its absence—through a nostalgic and remote imagery made of music and introspective narratives. His works range from individual ambient projects to collaborations with other artists. These include the audio / video project "Bellagio Bellagio" with visual artist Natalia Trejbalova, the voice-centred project with artist Francesca Flora, the collective folk research with the group ÀO LÌ WǍ, the hardcore/punk band Spirito di Lupo.
OOH-sounds is a record label dedicated to the most refined developments in experimental music, as well as to the curation and promotion of sound-based events that explore the contemporary.
