Concert
Matinée
Okkyung Lee and Younes Zarhoni
May 25 2025, 11.00am – 12.30pm
A series of acoustic and electro-acoustic concerts curated by Nicola Ratti and designed for the morning hours, when natural light is most intense, Matinée invites attentive and collected listening. Each appointment offers sound experiences different in language and references, but united by a central element: the quality of listening. A listening that dialogues with space, time and light, turning into a moment of suspension and perceptive openness.
The first event features live performances by Okkyung Lee and Younes Zarhoni.
Okkyung Lee is a South Korean cellist and composer. Her practice combines noise, improvisation, traditional Korean music and Western classical. Known for her visceral approach to the instrument, she creates site-specific works and has collaborated with artists such as Arca, Christian Marclay, and The Swans.
Younes Zarhoni is a sound artist and visual artist. Born in Antwerp of Moroccan descent, he lives today in Brussels. In recent years, he has translated his personal sonic universe into polyphonic vocal installations, electronic compositions, dance music and field recordings. His visual language is fed and shaped by a fascination with medieval mysticism, botany, nightclub culture and political historiography.
