On the occasion of the eight edition of the festival, FOG and Ariella Vidach, artistic director of the company AiEP, create a project specifically devised for public spaces, offering an opportunity to research the city’s landscape and its relationship with technology. Thanks to a web platform specifically created by Neve Studio, which explores the intersection of data, technology, and interactive visualization, geolocation will transform users into luminous pixels, giving life to a physical and collective act in which the audience—guided by the performers—composes words visible in real time on mobile devices. By making visible the intertwining of physicality and technology on the screens of cell phones, the words emerge from the network, following flows of desire and connections in an assemblage of subjects, devices, and environment. The performance generates a dynamic, evolving experience, dissolving the boundary between physical and virtual space. A poetic action that reinvents language through the body and the network.
Ariella Vidach is a choreographer and dancer originally from Croatia, who trained in New York in the 1980s with key figures of American postmodern dance, including Trisha Brown, Twyla Tharp, Dana Reitz, Steve Paxton and Bill T. Jones. She started her creative work in New York, devising performances which were subsequently also presented in Europe. In 1990 she moved to Milan and in 1996 she founded the dance company AiEP, with Claudio Prati. She lives in Milan where she teaches at Scuola Paolo Grassi and Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.
