This series of events, curated by Elasi, brings together musicians who are pillars of folk tradition and leading producers from the Italian and international electronic scene in a dialogue between past and future. Each event, dedicated to an Italian region, intertwines stories, instruments, listening sessions, and live performances to explore how technology transforms and accompanies folk music... and vice versa. It all culminates in a jam session, where roots and experimentation merge into a unique sound experience.
This event journeys to the heart of Sicily, a land of myths, work songs, and ancestral drums. Singer-songwriter and producer Colapesce meets frame drum master Alfio Antico in a dialogue that blends oral tradition, contemporary poetry, and evocative electronics. Through storytelling, primordial percussion, and synthetic textures, the two artists explore how Sicilian rhythm and ritual can inhabit new soundscapes, in a narrative where the island’s memory and innovation intertwine, giving life to an acoustic and visionary journey.
Elasi, singer-songwriter, composer, and DJ from Alessandria, blends sound worlds into music that resembles stroboscopic matryoshkas of styles, glittering synthesizer metropolises, and sonorities from distant lands.
Colapesce, the stage name of Lorenzo Urciullo, is one of the most innovative and refined voices in contemporary Italian music. His style merges classic songwriting, indie, and electronic experimentation, winning over both audiences and critics. Born in Solarino (Syracuse) in 1983, he debuted on the indie scene with the band Albanopower. In 2012, he released his first album, Un Meraviglioso Declino, which won the Targa Tenco for Best Debut Album. He continued his artistic journey with Egomostro (2015), a more electronic and introspective record. His breakthrough came in 2021 with the collaboration with Dimartino on the album I Mortali and their Sanremo entry Musica Leggerissima, which became a viral hit. In 2023, the duo returned to the Festival with Splash, reaffirming their central role in the Italian music scene.
Alfio Antico, born in Sicily, lived as a shepherd until the age of 18, developing a deep connection with nature and absorbing myths, stories, and local traditions from his grandmother. In the 1970s, he was discovered by Eugenio Bennato, who brought him into the band Musicanova, making him a key figure in the Italian folk scene. Over more than forty years of career, he has performed worldwide and collaborated with artists such as Fabrizio De André, Lucio Dalla, and Vinicio Capossela, as well as participating in major theatrical productions. Recognized internationally as a master of frame drums, he handcrafts his instruments and develops a primordial musical language rooted in ancient dialect, onomatopoeic sounds, and animal imitations. Active both live and in the studio, he performs as a soloist at jazz, world music, and contemporary electronic festivals.
