This major retrospective is dedicated to the work of Lella and Massimo Vignelli and traces their significant contributions to the evolution of international design and graphic culture. Through a curated selection of objects, furniture, interiors, drawings, models, sketches, photographs, manuals, trademarks, books, covers, and magazines from their vast body of work, the exhibition reconstructs the Vignellis' intellectual and human journey, which was shaped by vibrant international creative communities. The story unfolds between Milan, which was animated by the cultural revival of the postwar years, and New York, a cosmopolitan metropolis and laboratory of possibilities where the Vignellis settled in 1965. The exhibition was developed in close collaboration with the Vignelli Center for Design Studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology (USA), which preserves over 750,000 documents and artifacts related to the many creative fields explored by the duo over more than fifty years of activity, and in collaboration with the Vignelli family.
