An explosive juggling solo, MONOGRAPHIE unfolds like a living cartoon, at once graphic, absurd, and delightfully burlesque. Its protagonist, obsessive and excessive, rehearses his own death again and again, convinced that repetition is the best way not to miss it. Without uttering a word, he bends constraints until the unexpected breaks free. With Guillaume Martinet as our guide, we are swept into a world bordering on the absurd, a space where everything is permitted. MONOGRAPHIE is a juggling score, composed in seven episodes. It defines itself, asks for no justification, and by nature delights in a vast freedom—the freedom to invent its own reality. A boundless creative space where anything is possible, where coherence exists simply because everything is imagined.
Since its founding in 2009, Defracto has brought its juggling works to life more than 700 times, in 40 countries across five continents. Their creation - where bodies multiply and juggling constantly escapes expectation - are the outcome of over ten years of exploration into expressive juggling and physical comedy. Monographie distills this journey into a bespoke composition, a synthesis of everything their juggling has become.
