Tickets on sale soon
A series of acoustic and electro-acoustic concerts curated by Nicola Ratti and designed for the morning hours, when natural light is at its strongest, Matinée invites attentive and focused listening. Each event offers sound experiences that differ in language and references, yet are united by a central element: the quality of listening. A kind of listening that interacts with space, time and light, becoming a moment of suspension and perceptual openness.
Guests of this new appointment are Silvia Tarozzi and Deborah Walker. In their album Canti di guerra, di lavoro e d'amore, the artists reinterpret traditional songs through a play of reinvention and transformation that highlights their timbral and stylistic characteristics in a contemporary key. Sholto Dobie, a Scottish artist based in Vilnius, uses voices, wind instruments and accordions, stemming from his interest in traditional instrument building and folklore, creating a performance that fully enhances the acoustic dimension of the room.
Line-up
Live set – Sholto Dobie
Concert – Silvia Tarozzi (voice and violin); Deborah Walker (voice and cello)
Silvia Tarozzi and Deborah Walker share a long-standing artistic partnership that ranges from improvisation to contemporary experimental creation. For twenty years, they have explored musical forms, working with composers and performing with musicians such as Philip Corner, Rhodri Davies, Eyvind Kang, Nathalie Forget, Frantz Loriot, Alex Bruck and Song Circus. Their music is characterised by deep interaction, a focus on the acoustic qualities of their instruments, and the search for new possibilities in tuning, gesture and sound.
Sholto Dobie, born in Edinburgh and now based in Vilnius, is an experimental artist who uses self-built instruments, accordions and voice to create listening situations that connect environment, community and time. Founder of the event series Progine and director of the Jauna Muzika Festival, he has collaborated with numerous artists and performed in major European venues and festivals.
