An exhibition of emerging global design talents. Material Alchemists showcases the works of a new generation of designers for whom material exploration is the definitive mode of their practice. These are individuals and studios who elevate base matter into beguiling forms with magic. Their work spans furniture and lighting, textiles and objects, quotidian and collectible, using time-honoured techniques and progressive processes. It is an exhibition that celebrates craft and design, industry and technology, art and imagination, demonstrating that our burgeoning design protagonists are curious to the power and potential beyond the confines of inherited wisdom. With mind, hand and material, they are forging the future.
