DANSER BRUT
Julie Gouju – Brano Gilan
March 13 – 25, 2023
AGE 12 – 17
Conceived by choreographer Julie Gouju and filmmaker Brano Gilan, DANSER BRUT is a project consisting of a film and a workshop in which the corporeality of performative gesture and the power of moving images coexist. The workshop addresses a group of adolescents, in a close-knit dialogue between dance and video, who are invited to interpret dances without detours, as direct, minimal and essential as possible. Dances guided by the urgency and radicality of a gesture. A single gesture that runs through and transforms the person dancing.
DANSER BRUT seeks to film the expression of subjectivity, to reveal our strengths and fragilities and to free our bodies from the norms of representation.
Julie Gouju is a choreographer, dancer and researcher. She first studied philosophy at Sorbonne University and conducted research in aesthetics on dance, before becoming involved in creation. She joined the master ex.e.r.ce in 2013 at Centre chorégraphique national de Montpellier, directed by Mathilde Monnier. She published in the journal Recherches en danse. Her work is supported by the Centre national de la danse since 2017.
