Concert
Melissa Laveaux and Mauro Ottolini
November 6 2019, 9.00pm
Haiti has a troubled and unhappy history, but its music is always a treasure. Mélissa Laveaux has always been in favour of original tracks, with serious lyrics and a indie-folk flavour. In her last Radyo Sivèl she jumped right in the haitian tradition reinventing popular poems, trobadour’s stories, the songs talking about the rebellion against the American occupation. here, her dancing voice became a shout, the guitar put on her thorny strings and in the background we can still find the aggressive soca, calypso and trip-hop grooves.
