Matteo Sedda, winner of a DNAppunti Coreografici grant, stages FUCK ME BLIND, a choreographic duet inspired by Blue, Derek Jarman's final, autobiographic film, shot shortly before the director's death from complications of AIDS. International Klein Blue, a symbolic color for Jarman, as well as the film's sole image, initiates a physical and sensorial exploration of the body, presented in a constant rotation projected towards infinity. Adopting the film's non-narrative idiom, FUCK ME BLIND creates a hypnotic experience immersed in a highly emotional and symbolic visual landscape in which the performers share a lone point of gravity. In a fluid dialogue between tension and abandonment, Eros and Thanatos, the two dancers brush by and pursue one other, transforming themselves within a fragile, mysterious equilibrium that evokes a new homo-folk dance
Matteo Sedda is a choreographer, dancer, and activist of Sardinian origin. He works as a freelancer with various artists, including Jan Fabre, Enzo Cosimi, Aïda Gabriëls, and Igor x Moreno. Since 2018, he has been developing a choreographic research deeply influenced by his experience with HIV. Exploring desire and vulnerability, he aims to create new representations of AIDS that renew the dialogue between historical memory and artistic reinterpretation. In his first solo, POZ!, his coming out as a person living with HIV became both a political and artistic manifesto. Winner of DNAppunti Coreografici 2024, FUCK ME BLIND premiered on October 19 at the Romaeuropa Festival.
