The exhibition presents, for the first time in Europe, the work of photographer Don Bronstein, a discreet yet central figure in postwar American visual culture. Through a selection of photographs dedicated to the Chicago’s jazz scene in the 1950s and ’60s, the project reveals a visual language capable of transforming documentation into a sensitive, immersive experience. Marked by proximity, care, and intensity, Bronstein’s images highlight a way of looking that—like jazz itself—holds together memory and invention. Conceived within the context of miart, the exhibition gives visual shape to the theme of its 30th edition, New Directions.
