Open House Milano has made sharing its hallmark: opening places normally inaccessible, making the city readable, expanding participation. If asymmetry often arises from material and cultural barriers, opening—for one weekend every year, and ideally beyond—means reducing distances, creating common alphabets, multiplying encounters. For its tenth anniversary, Open House presents the volume D’Acqua e Soglie. Milano, a hybrid narrative between catalog and critical guide: it showcases symbolic and everyday spaces, public and private, religious and cultural, homes and construction sites. It is not self-celebration: it is an access tool to discover and tell the story of a city that challenges itself: the Milan of thresholds to cross and connections, where buildings, theaters, squares, and libraries become civic infrastructures.
