Cinzia Ruggeri: Cinzia says...

November 23 2022, 6.30pm
We present the book Cinzia Ruggeri: Cinzia says..., edited by Luca Lo Pinto and published by Mousse Publishing. The artist and fashion designer Cinzia Ruggeri (1942-2019) has made her artistic research a tool for investigating the functional and semantic properties of the object and the architectural and social dimensions of the body, according to an original and nonconformist perspective enriched by irony and dreaminess. Cinzia Ruggeri: Cinzia Says... is the first monograph on this unconventional figure who moved freely between different disciplines. Her life and multifaceted practice were animated by the desire to redefine the formal and functional status of everyday elements: from clothing to accessories, furniture to lighting. Ruggeri was capable of creating a world based on an imaginative, provocative, elegant, and never predictable imaginary. The book presentation is also an opportunity to recount the donation to Triennale by the Cinzia Ruggeri Archive of a body of work by the fashion designer, two of which are currently on display in La tradizione del nuovo, the show curated by Marco Sammicheli—Director of Museo del Design Italiano di Triennale Milano—as part of Unknown Unknowns. An Introduction to Mysteries, 23rd International Exhibition.
Published with MACRO–Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma, following the retrospective that the museum has dedicated to Cinzia Ruggeri, now on view at Goldsmiths CCA in London, the volume—which includes texts by Mariuccia Casadio, Elena Fava, Maria Luisa Frisa, Corrado Levi, Luca Lo Pinto, Valeria Magli, Giancarlo Maiocchi, Sarah McCrory, Marco Poma & Andrea Gianotti, Mauro Sabbione, Laura Salvo, Davide Stucchi & Anna Franceschini, and Jeppe Ugelvig—is an exhaustive chronology offering documents, photographs, accounts and essays that bring to light a history left in the dark for too long.
