Sonartico is an experience that brings together music and sonic research, born from the solitude of the Artic Circle. nata dalla solitudine del Circolo Polare Artico. Chiara Luzzana undertook two solo expeditions to the Svalbard Islands: 30 days aboard a sailboat during 24 hours of perpetual light, and a return during the darkness of February, to capture the sonic transformation of a fragile ecosystem. From this immersion comes a 9-track album built with over 3,400 samples: the ballet of whales beneath the hull, the roar of icebergs, the steps of polar bears, the breath of walruses, the hiss of air bubbles in the ice. Sonartico is also a first-person documentary that blends melodic electronics, organic soundscapes, and future jazz, transforming ice into melody and silence into musical architecture. What sound are we? Which inner voice do we want to preserve? Its preview at Voce Triennale will feature live performance, immersive projection, and dialogue.
Chiara Luzzana is a composer and sound artist internationally recognized for her ability to transform pure sounds into emotional narratives. Her work spans from creating sonic identities for brands such as Swatch, Nivea, Alessi, Lavazza, Beck's, Venice Biennale, and Shanghai Biennale, to artistic installations that redefine the relationship between listening, memory, and emotion. She is among the most innovative sound designers internationally, awarded for projects that blend psychoacoustics, neuroscience, and deep listening, always starting from the authentic sound of materials, products, or places. After The Sound of City, which since 2013 has led her to record sounds from over 20 cities around the world, her new artistic path, Sonartico, marks a radical introspection: from urban listening to inner listening, from the city to the extreme silence of the Arctic, where she documented the sounds of a fragile ecosystem. Author of Everything is Sound, since 2020 she has given over 500 talks worldwide.
